Description
ester 23 offers a glimpse into the making of this year’s 40 artworks, drawing together written insights, working sketches and studies, and studio scenes from the artists behind them; as well as original writing and artist conversations.
The introduction to this year’s book is penned by judge and arts industry stalwart Alan Dodge, who asks, “What makes the perfect portrait?” Plus, local artist, illustrator and arts writer Imogen Kotsoglo explores the wonder of being seen, and the incredible power of a portrait to teach us about ourselves and each other. This year’s book also features transcripts of conversations between artists and ABC Radio Perth journalist Emma Wynne, who delves into the motivations, aspirations and achievements of our finalists.
